Tottenham Hotspur manager Enze Postecoglou has responded to Lionel Messi’s praise for the Tottenham Hotspur player.
According to a report by British outlet TalkSPORT on Wednesday, Spurs boss Postecoglou responded to Messi’s “I think Cristian Romero is the best defender in the world” comment on air by saying, “I’m not going to refute his opinion.”
Romero joined Tottenham from Atalanta on loan in 2021. Despite concerns about his ability to adapt to the Premier League, he quickly established himself as a key part of the team with his solid defense.
He completed a full transfer in 2022. Tottenham paid a modest €50 million transfer fee for Romero, betting big on his development.
Spurs were not wrong. Romero struggled last season, making 34 appearances across all competitions despite a downward spiral at Tottenham.
His contribution to the team was recognized. Postecoglou, who took over the reins at Tottenham, showed his trust in Romero by naming him vice-captain alongside Son Heung-min and James Maddison.
The world’s best player, Messi, has also given Romero the thumbs up, saying after the last game against Ecuador, “I think he’s the best defender in the world right now.” 메이저놀이터
“What I want to say is that I don’t want to play against him either,” he said. Most of the Tottenham players don’t like to train against Romero,” he said.
“Because he’s really tough. I really like that about him. It doesn’t make much difference whether it’s training or a game. He always brings the same result,” he raved.
