Lotte Giants starting pitchers Na Kyun-ahn and Park Se-woong share their thoughts on making the team.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) held a press conference on Monday afternoon to announce the final 24-man roster for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
For the Lotte Giants, pitchers Na Gyun-ahn and Park Se-woong earned the honor. Park joins pitcher Koo Chang-mo (NC Dinos) and outfielder Choi Won-jun (Armed Forces Athletic Corps) as a “wild card” with no roster or annual restrictions.
Both players have been indispensable to the team. Na Gyun-an is 5-1 with a 2.55 ERA in 11 games and 67 innings pitched this season. Park Se-woong has rebounded since May with a 3-2 record and a 3.17 ERA in 10 games and 54 innings pitched this season. Lotte has maintained its top spot in the early season thanks to their strong pitching.
Na Gyun-an said, “I still can’t believe that I was selected for the national team. “I can’t believe that I’ve been selected for the national team yet, and I’m going to start for Samsung Electronics today (Sept. 9), so I can’t afford to be too agitated,” said Na. “I’ll focus more on today’s game and do a good job for the team that trusted me and selected me.
Park Se-woong, who also played in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in March, said, “As I was selected to represent the country, I will take responsibility and strive to develop Korean baseball, and I will make up for what I lacked in the last WBC so that I can take the mound with a more mature appearance. As I am traveling with young players, I will lead them well so that they can repay me with good results 스포츠토토.”
“I’m very proud of both of them,” said Lotte head coach Larry Sutton. It’s an honor to represent your country, and we want them to be proud to represent our team,” said Lotte head coach Larry Thornton.
“As you know, Na Kyun-ahn had a hot start to the season. And Park Se-woong took a while to find his form, but he trusted the process and followed it. I hope they can help the country as much as they have helped the team.”
